My Favorite Anti Virus Software

I have been using this software for more than two years after my paid subscription from a certain company expired.  I thought about renewing but found it ridiculous since it didn't do its job effectively.  During its one year term, it failed to stop my laptop from falling victim to three major virus attacks as well as a few browser hijacks and I thought I did everything right.  I set the software to scan daily and used the software's own firewall since I heard that the microsoft xp's firewall was a piece of crap.  I switched to using Firefox and updated the anti virus software and my XP every time.
I never used torrents or download files often during that time because I was afraid of something like this of happening.  All I got from it was the loss of $60 from my pocket and a bogged down system.  I finally decided to research alternatives and found one that was very useful.  Its called AVIRA and its been my laptop's savior ever since.  Since using this software I haven't had any major attacks to my system.  Apparently its detection rate greatly surpassed the anti virus software I foolishly paid for.  The only issue I have with it is the popup box that shows when it updates.  Other than that, it does its job and its free.
